Who We Are

We are a small family of faith who believe that Christian love has the power to change negative into positive, evil into good, and hatred into love. God’s love has sustained this small Episcopal church for close to 160 years. Our purpose is to love and support our small mountain community as well as the larger community of the world. We believe that our efforts of kindness and acceptance can change the world one heart at a time. Our motto is: “Love God, love people, change the world.”

History

Our church had its beginnings in 1859 in a log cabin in Mountain City. The first church building was built in Central City in 1873. We established the first school in the mining district. In present day, the Church has conducted highway cleanup, Dinner & A Movie, ecumenical prayer services, Community Talent Show, and the Children’s Program.
